Zelda might be bringing back Ocarina Of Time and that’s dangerous for my free time

Zelda was my childhood. Not in the fake nostalgic, “yeah I played it a little at my cousin’s house” kind of way either. I mean real childhood. This was the first game I ever got genuinely locked into, the first one that made me care about every second of what I was doing, and the first one that made a game feel bigger than just a thing to kill time with.

So if these rumors about an Ocarina of Time remake on Switch 2 are actually real, then yeah, I’m pretty much gone. Off the grid. Don’t text me, don’t call me, don’t ask me to do anything. Once that game drops, I will not be available for at least a month. Maybe longer if we’re being honest.

Zelda Is Not Just Another Game To Me

Zelda was the one. Plenty of games came and went when I was a kid, but Ocarina of Time was different. That was the one that pulled me all the way in. It had the world, the music, the characters, the feeling that you were stepping into something way bigger than yourself. At that age, it felt massive. It felt important. It felt like the standard.

That’s why this rumor hits different than the usual remake chatter. A lot of old games get dragged back out because studios know nostalgia sells. Sometimes it works, sometimes it’s a lazy cash grab. But Zelda is one of the few franchises where a remake like this actually makes all the sense in the world.

If Nintendo can take everything that made Ocarina of Time special and give it a real modern update without ruining the soul of it, that is an easy win. You don’t even need to overthink it. Just give me that world again with upgraded visuals, smoother gameplay, and enough respect for the original to not screw it up.

Zelda Fans Have Every Right To Lose Their Minds

The rumor making the rounds says an Ocarina of Time remake could hit in the second half of 2026 on the Switch 2. There’s also talk of a new Star Fox game, plus a bunch of other Nintendo titles supposedly lined up. That’s all cool, but let’s be real here, the second I saw Zelda connected to this rumor cycle, everything else became background noise.

That’s not disrespect to the rest of Nintendo’s lineup. It’s just reality.

If this thing is real, it instantly becomes one of the biggest gaming stories of the year. Zelda is already one of Nintendo’s crown jewels, and Ocarina of Time is still viewed by a lot of people as one of the greatest games ever made. You touch that title, people are going to care. A lot.

And honestly, they should.

Zelda Ocarina Of Time Deserves A Real Modern Return

There’s always going to be the crowd that says you can’t touch a classic, and I get that. Nothing is going to replace being a kid playing Ocarina of Time for the first time. You cannot manufacture that feeling again. That’s gone. That moment belongs to the original.

But that doesn’t mean Nintendo shouldn’t try to bring Zelda back in a bigger way for a new generation and for the people who grew up on it. If anything, that’s exactly why they should do it.

A proper remake is not about replacing the original. It’s about honoring it. Let new players see why this game mattered so much. Let the rest of us dive back in and pretend we’re kids again for a few weeks. That’s worth doing.

And for me personally, this is not one of those games where I’d casually check it out when I have time. No. This is a clear-the-schedule situation. This is a disappear-from-society situation. This is me letting everybody know in advance that if Zelda really comes back like this, I’m tapped out.

That’s the bottom line. If the rumors are true and Nintendo actually gives us an Ocarina of Time remake, I’m all the way in. No hesitation. No pretending I’ll balance it with normal life responsibilities. I know myself better than that.

Zelda was the first game I ever truly loved, and if this remake is happening, it’s going to hit me right in the part of my brain that still thinks sitting in front of a screen with Hyrule music playing is the most important thing on earth.

So yeah, fair warning now. When this game comes out, I’m unavailable. For at least a month.
