The Flyers are tied for a Wild Card spot at 88 points and the Regulation Wins tiebreaker is a problem
Four teams are now tied at 88 points in the race for the last Wild Card spot and the Flyers are right in the middle of it. Columbus dropped three straight and fell out of a wild card spot. Ottawa climbed. Detroit is right there.
Philly beat the Islanders 4-1 on Friday after losing to Detroit 4-2 on Thursday and the race has never been tighter with six games left.
Here is the problem. When teams are tied on points the NHL goes to regulation wins as the first tiebreaker. And right now the Flyers are fourth among the four teams tied at 88.

Regulation Wins Tiebreaker

Fourth out of four. The Flyers have won a lot of games this season but too many of them came in overtime or a shootout. Every game that ends in regulation from here on out matters enormously. Not just for the two points but for the tiebreaker that is currently separating this team from a playoff spot.
Flyers Remaining Schedule
- Sun Apr 5 — at Boston Bruins (today, 3:30 PM)
- Tue Apr 7 — vs New Jersey Devils
- Thu Apr 9 — at Detroit Red Wings
- Sat Apr 11 — at Winnipeg Jets
- Mon Apr 13 — at Carolina Hurricanes
- Tue Apr 14 — at Montreal Canadiens
Boston today is a tough ask. The Bruins are still 94 points and playing for their own positioning. But the games that truly define this run are Detroit on April 9th, where the Flyers can directly take points from a tiebreaker rival, and the back end of the schedule against Winnipeg, Carolina, and Montreal where regulation wins need to be collected.
Every game that ends in sixty minutes is worth more than just two points right now. The Flyers need to understand that and play accordingly.
Six games left. Tied for a wild card spot. Regulation wins are everything.
