Mike Missanelli behind bars

Mikey Misdemeanor: Former sports radio host Mike Missanelli arrested for assault and harassment of fiancée

Former sports radio host Mike Missanelli was reportedly booked on charges of simple assault and harassment for allegedly slapping his fiancée. Lower Merion PD arrived on the scene after someone dialed 911 and hung up, and a once great radio icon found himself in cuffs in the back of a police cruiser.

Mike Missanelli told the arresting officers that he and his fiancée got into a “scuffle” over their engagement leading up to the incident:

Well, well, well, Mike. I figured that during your time in law school, you would have learned that hitting a woman – or anyone for that matter – is illegal.

I take no joy in this. That poor woman was not only assaulted by the man she was planning to marry, but that man was the insufferable Mike Missanelli himself. That means that she was not only a victim of an assault by him, but also spent time with him in a romantic context for an extended period of time.

Of course, this isn’t the first time Missanelli has showcased his ignorance of the law. While this is a clear violation of the criminal code, he also flew in the face of intellectual property regulations when he stole my cooking show idea nearly five years ago.

That being said, I’m not here to compare a legitimate domestic violence case to theft of intellectual property – though it was a slap in the face to a 23-year-old longtime fan at the time.

His response to my article on the latter was met with a “Grow up, Skippy!” and a block on Twitter. Unfortunately for Missanelli, an ad hominem attack and a personal embargo on social media aren’t much of a legal defense in the Lower Merion court system.

I do, once again, want to make it very clear that my personal grievances over internet cooking content pale in comparison to those of a legitimate victim of domestic violence. I wish her well and hope that she’s able to move forward from this incident.

Very real and legitimate journalist. I don't see a loss on the schedule.

  1. Long live Cooking PaPa. She sadly chose the wrong chief, and the ship has sailed off.
