Flyers ink 2024 2nd round pick Jack Berglund to ELC
DANNY JUST CANNOT BE STOPPED. Jack Berglund has signed his entry-level contract and will report to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms for the remainder of the AHL season.
The 51st overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft is 19 years old, 6-foot-4, plays a sound two-way game at center, and is now officially in North America and in the Flyers organization a year earlier than most people expected.
Jack Berglund inks 3-year ELC with the Flyers
Flyers fans who tracked the World Junior Championship got a good look at what he can do. He put up 3 goals, 7 assists, and 10 points in 7 games for Sweden in the WJC-20.
He also had 12 points in 40 games for Färjestad BK in the SHL, which is legitimate production for a 19-year-old in one of the best leagues in Europe.
Instead of heading back to Sweden he is now in the Flyers system working with their development staff and getting his first taste of North American hockey.
Jack Berglund also put up 12 points in 40 games for Färjestad BK of the SHL.
Jack Berglund becomes the fourth player from the 2024 draft class to sign his ELC alongside Jett Luchanko, Spencer Gill, and Noah Powell. I will say this… he might be the best player of the bunch.
That is saying something because I genuinely love Spencer Gill but Berglund’s combination of size, two-way ability, and the way his stock rose this winter makes him a very compelling prospect.
I’m interested to see him play with the Phantoms, who are not in a playoff spot right now despite the AHL having some of the craziest playoffs rules I’ve ever seen.
Top6 in the Atlantic (8-team division) gets in. The Phantoms are 7th. Definitely a fall from grace from the start of the year but that’s to be expected when you lose half your roster to the NHL.
All in all, to get Jack Berglund in the organization rather than have him going back to the SHL is great. He gets to play the last few regular season games with the Phantoms and will get the feel of NA a little sooner. The organization has him closer to them, and with their development team a year earlier than some expected so this is a win in my book.
The Flyers play the Detroit Red Wings at 7:00 ET.
BE THERE. LETS. GO. FLYERS.
