Joel Embiid Sixers Knicks Game 1 Status Probable

Joel Embiid listed as probable for Game 1 against the New York Knicks

Joel Embiid is listed as probable for Monday night’s Game 1 at Madison Square Garden with a right hip contusion. He was visibly laboring by the end of Saturday’s Game 7 win in Boston and has carried a massive workload since returning from his appendectomy on April 9.

The notable development on the injury report is that for the first time since the surgery, the appendectomy is no longer listed. It’s just the hip contusion now. All that’s great. The real meat and potatoes here is that Joel Embiid is going to play regardless. He even joked after Game 7 that he was faking the injury and that he’s never felt better.

Joel Embiid: “I feel great. I feel amazing. I was faking it.”

That’s obviously a stretch, but either way, Embiid didn’t lead a 3-1 comeback against the Celtics to sit out Game 1 against the Knicks because of a hip bruise.

Joel Embiid getting stretched out in Game 7 – love it.

Joel Embiid has played through everything at this point. A hip contusion isn’t stopping him. Nothing short of a stretcher is stopping him. Embiid and the Sixers are on a generational run right now and anyone who dares to stop that will pay the price.

The haters and losers will tell you that the Sixers shouldn’t be celebrating a first round win like they aren’t one of 14 teams in NBA HISTORY to ever complete the comeback. I think they are just mad because the general discourse around Embiid and the Sixers has completely changed over the past week and they have nothing to complain about.

Shame.

The Knicks’ injury report only lists reserve forward Jeremy Sochan as probable with left hamstring tightness. New York is essentially at full strength some rest after closing out their first-round series against the Hawks last Thursday night.

The Sixers are banged up, coming off a seven-game war, and playing on one day’s rest.

Underdogs again. Business as usual at this point.

“If You Need The Money, I Got You” – Joel Embiid doesn’t want Knicks fans in South Philly and I don’t either >>

Game 1 is tonight at 8 p.m. ET at Madison Square Garden, Maxey Square Garden if we do our jobs. Lets get it.
