Union pulled off a comeback for the ages last night at Subaru Park
If you left Subaru Park early on Saturday night, I feel genuinely sorry for you, because you missed one of the wildest finishes of the entire MLS season. The Philadelphia Union stormed back from a 2-0 deficit to beat 10-man Atlanta United 3-2, and they did it in the most dramatic way imaginable, with club-record signing Ezekiel Alladoh burying a stunning 97th-minute volley for his first-ever MLS goal to cap a rally.
Three straight wins now, and this one had the feel of a season-changer.
For most of the night, this was shaping up to be a disaster. Atlanta jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals from Miguel Almiron in the 30th minute and Tristan Muyumba in the 66th, all while playing a man down. Enea Mihaj was sent off with a 27th-minute red card, and somehow Atlanta STILL took a two-goal lead despite being shorthanded for over an hour.
That’s the kind of thing that breaks a struggling team’s spirit, and given how the Union’s 2026 has gone, you could have forgiven the crowd for bracing for another gut-punch loss.
A Union Comeback for the Ages
Milan Iloski got it started in the 73rd minute with a stunning finish, extending his goal-scoring streak to six straight games and improving to 10 goals and 2 assists on the season. The kid has been the engine of this turnaround, and his strike gave the crowd life and the Union belief.
Then came the one-two punch that will be replayed all week. Neil Pierre leveled it in the sixth minute of second-half stoppage time, an absolute gut-check equalizer deep into injury time.

Seconds later, before Atlanta could even catch their breath, Alladoh struck in the 97th minute with a stunning volley for his first career MLS goal to complete the comeback and send Subaru Park into absolute bedlam. From 2-0 down against a 10-man side to a 3-2 win on a stoppage-time winner. You cannot script it any better than that.

Saturday’s result pushed the Union to 13th in the Eastern Conference, still seven points shy of a playoff spot, but the trajectory is what matters here.
Philly is a perfect 3-0-0 under new man Richter, who took over after the club parted ways with Bradley Carnell back in May.
You have to remember where this team came from, because last year’s Supporters’ Shield winners lost their first six games of 2026 and limped into the World Cup break dead last in the entire league. That was a genuine catastrophe for a club that was on top of the sport a year ago.
Now they’re winning, and they’re winning in dramatic, resilient, never-say-die fashion, which is exactly what a team clawing its way back into the race needs.
The resurgence is being fueled by exactly the guys you’d want carrying it.
Cavan Sullivan keeps growing into a bigger role, his brother and fellow homegrown Quinn Sullivan is back from injury, and the recent reacquisition of all-time assist leader Kai Wagner is already paying off in a huge way, with Wagner adding two more helpers against Atlanta.

Now Alladoh, the club-record signing who came in with real expectations ahead of 2026, is starting to make his mark with a debut goal that couldn’t have come at a bigger moment.
There’s a real story brewing at Subaru Park. A team that looked completely lost to start the season, that bottomed out at the very bottom of the table, has ripped off three straight wins under a new manager, gotten healthy, added a franchise legend back into the fold, and just pulled off a stoppage-time miracle against a 10-man opponent.
The playoff gap is seven points, which is very much closeable if this momentum holds.
The Union might have just saved their season on Saturday night. And if they keep playing with this kind of heart, the climb back into the playoff race is absolutely on the table.
