WATCH: Bryce Young talks about feet with reporter Dave Stevens, who doesn’t have any
Bryce Young had a rough moment in a sideline interview this week, and the clip is genuinely hilarious. Before the 2026 Hall of Fame Game against the Cardinals, the Panthers quarterback was interviewed by veteran reporter Dave Stevens, who was born without both legs. Bryce Young crouched down next to Stevens on the sideline in Canton, and then accidentally threw the verbal equivalent of a pick-six.
Stevens asked Young about maybe making the Hall of Fame someday. Bryce Young gave a standard humble answer about staying grounded and not looking too far ahead and then he walked right into it.
Bryce Young – Dave Stevens Interview
“Definitely the goal, but that’s a long-term one right now. Can’t think too far ahead right now. It’s about being the best version of the team we are. Training camp’s about finding that, so I’m definitely where my feet are right now.”
Where his feet are. To a man with no legs.
Shoutout Dave Stevens because he didn’t miss a beat.
“Speaking of feet, I don’t have any.”
Perfect delivery. Dead calm. A seven-time Emmy winner who has clearly handled every awkward moment imaginable, and he just dropped that line and then smoothly moved on to his next question about where Bryce Young keeps his Heisman. No awkwardness, no mercy, just a clean roast and back to business. Dave Stevens won that exchange in a landslide.
Well played by Dave Stevens and Bryce Young
The funniest part is Bryce Young immediately realizing what he’d said. You can see him chuckling as it hits him that he just handed the internet a gift. There was nothing else to do but laugh, and to his credit, he took it well.
At least it happened in an interview and not on the field. Young didn’t even play Thursday in Carolina’s 33-30 win, so it stays off the game tape. Just a funny clip all around, and shoutout to Dave Stevens for turning it into comedy gold with one line.
