Cavan Sullivan scored yet another ridiculous goal as the Philadelphia Union took down the New York Red Bulls 3-1, and the 16-year-old phenom is officially on a tear that nobody can ignore anymore. If you’re not paying attention to what this kid is doing, you’re missing one of the best young stories in American soccer.
The Union got the scoring started through Milan Iloski in the 21st minute, and then Sullivan added his second goal in as many games to pad the lead. Eighteen-year-old Neil Pierre sealed it on a set piece, and while Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting got one back late for the Red Bulls, it was too little too late.
The win stretched Philadelphia’s unbeaten run to a very impressive seven matches. This team is rolling, and the kids are leading the way.

The kid has three goals and three assists in his last five games. For a 16-year-old, that’s video-game production, and it has fans buzzing about everything, from the records he’s chasing, to his future Manchester City move, to a possible U.S. national team call-up that feels more overdue by the week.
We’ve talked about this kid a lot lately, and for good reason. The red card he took defending his brother, the goal 24 hours after getting it rescinded, and now another beauty against a rival. Cavan Sullivan is producing in the biggest moments, week after week, and he’s doing it as a teenager against grown professionals.

I think Philly needs to wake up to this home grown talent in general. Kid is a beast and I’m going to follow his career even after he leaves to go to Man City, or whatever team he ends up going to in Europe. Philly got back this kid 100%, and he keeps this up he’s going to be on the mens national team in no time.
