Brandon Graham exposes Spike Eskin, and of course Howard’s son responds in the corniest way imaginable

There is nothing WIP hosts love more than winning a football game and immediately finding something to complain about. That is why Eagles fans have increasingly grown tired of the product over the years and resorted to other avenues of “sports talk radio”. So much so, even former Eagles players; in this case Brandon Graham have started their own forms of media.

BG used his platform on his Unblocked podcast recently to call out Spike Eskin. Finally!

Brandon Graham was talking about the reaction to an Eagles win and made a pretty simple point: a win is a win.

He brought up the 2017 playoff win over Atlanta as an example. The Eagles didn’t exactly play a perfect game that day, but nobody cared afterward because they advanced.

As BG put it:

“We played good enough to win the game. We make it to the next week.”

And that’s really the point. During the regular season, every Eagles victory somehow turns into an autopsy of whatever didn’t go perfectly. One week it’s the passing game. The next week it’s the running game. Then it’s the defense giving up one touchdown.

At some point, you have to just take the damn win. Case and point, me and the record-setting amounts of Eagles fans who are traveling to Nashville this weekend for the Titans game will all collectively lose our minds if the team walks out with a win.

At the same time, sure we expect the Birds to handle this team easily, so we will have our critiques of the team. But that doesn’t mean we will just dwell on it all week and be miserable.

Now back to BG and Spike

BG has done his WIP show before. He’s been around the station. He knows exactly who Spike Eskin is.

And pretending you don’t know somebody’s name is one of the oldest disrespectful moves in the book. Which I am all for. In fact, I love this for us.

Naturally, Spike had a response.

He pointed out that Graham has had his podcast for two years and suggested this was the first time anyone had really heard about it because BG mentioned him.

Relax buddy

This is the part about Spike that has always made me laugh. There is this bizarre sense that everybody else is living in Spike Eskin’s world.

Brandon Graham, an Eagles legend who spent 15 years in Philadelphia, won a Super Bowl here and became one of the most beloved players of his generation, makes a five-second joke about you.

And the response is basically: Well, congratulations on finally getting attention because you mentioned ME.

There is a difference between defending yourself and acting like somebody should be grateful for the privilege of being mentioned by you.

That whole “I’m more important than you” routine is just corny. But, he clearly takes after his dad who made a career of doing the same thing. So whether Brett likes to admit it or not, he’s simply following his father’s footsteps. Howard must be so proud.
