Nick Sirianni Eagles jalen Hurts injury

Nick Sirianni (not a medical expert) gets bombarded with Jalen Hurts questions during Monday presser

What a roller coaster this Jalen Hurts injury saga has been. Nick Sirianni has been the man appointed to answer for the sins of the Eagles organization over this whole thing. And I gotta say, he’s one of the last people in the world I’d want speaking on such a serious matter, but here we are.

Here’s everything we currently know about the situation:

  • Week 4 vs. the Rams: Hurts was cleated in the calf. The team says he didn’t ask for treatment until a few days later, and he practiced in full in between.
  • London trip: An ultrasound found a superficial blood clot in his calf after the Eagles flew to London. Doctors still cleared him to play.
  • Night before the game: Hurts spent time in a hospital and was told not to sleep because of the risk. He played the full game on very little sleep.
  • Flight home: He took the 7 to 8 hour flight from London back to Philadelphia and practiced in full that week. He called it a “very unique experience” and declined to give details.
  • Follow-up ultrasound: It showed the clot had moved. He was ruled out for Week 6.
  • Latest testing: Hurts has been diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis and blood clots in both lungs. He is on blood thinners and is expected to miss the rest of the season.

News broke this morning on Hurts’ season being over, with Nick Sirianni scheduled for his weekly press conference just hours later. In no world should Nick Sirianni be the one answering these types of questions. For one, he’s an idiot. Secondly, he knows nothing about any of this medical shit. Zero, nada. He’s a pawn in the Eagles scheme and simply cannot be trusted to relay this type of information to the public. It should’ve been the team doctor or Howie/Lurie up there, not Nick. As much as I’ve clowned Nick Sirianni over the years, he shouldn’t have been put in this situation to begin with.

The entire presser predictably revolved around Hurts and the injury.

Just a brutal watch. Not only because Sirianni simply does not have information to share (or was instructed not to share), but these reporters, man. How many times are you going to ask about an injury that the coach clearly did not make a call on? I mean seriously. I get that this is who the organization trotted out there, probably knowing he would get bombarded with this shit. That doesn’t mean you keep hounding him about it.

Stop championing this shit. You’d think Jeff McLane was in-line to win a Pulitzer after uncovering a mass government conspiracy with the way people are talking about him on social media. These people have agendas, too. McLane is trying to spin an angle, ESP is trying to spin an angle — everyone in that room has an angle. Stop acting like any of them speak for you. They don’t.

It’s all one big act, and while I agree that someone needs to answer for all of this, I’m also not stupid enough to think Nick Sirianni is the one who’s going to do it.

This whole thing stinks and I’ve fully accepted that this season is a wash. Now, I’m just excited to see how shitty it gets. Go Birds.
