Major changes on the horizon for the Eagles as they drop 6th-straight and fall to 2-6

The Philadelphia Eagles are an abomination to the sport of football right now. They were the gold standard for years. Now they’re a joke. Life comes at you fast.

After another lifeless outing on Sunday night, NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Ryan Fowler reported that major changes are coming for this football team. Per a text message Fowler received from a team source pertaining to Sunday night’s defeat, “It’s a loss that loses people their jobs.”

Eagles are about to get gutted ahead of the trade deadline

This could mean a handful of things. The most likely outcome, a bunch of high profile guys get dealt ahead of next week’s trade deadline. ESPN reported that Saquon Barkley would not be one of those guys, but things can change. When you get embarrassed two times in a row in primetime, it tends to expedite things.

Starting the re-tool during the season has never been Howie Roseman’s thing. And in this case, it won’t change a whole lot of what we’re seeing every Sunday. We all know what would really shake things up, but I’m not sure Jeffrey Lurie wants to go there just yet. I’m of course talking about firing Nick Sirianni.

While I totally agree with anyone who wants him canned, I’m not ready to kick him to the curb midseason. If it were to happen after next week, as the bye week is getting underway, it’ll be the earliest an Eagles head coach has been fired during a season in my lifetime. It would be the earliest Philadelphia has fired a head coach in-season since 1971, when they fired Jerry Williams after just three games.

They’re just in a really tough spot right now. On one hand, Sirianni has had a terrible season and has done nothing to inspire any confidence moving forward. On the other, this is his first outright bad season and he has two Super Bowl appearances plus a title under his belt. Do you fire that guy with half of the season yet to be played? It would be a drastic move. One I’m not sure the organization is prepared to make just yet.

If they lose in embarrassing fashion again next week at home to New York, it would mark the team’s seventh straight loss and their third in a row to the NFC East. I could see it happening at that point.

Fans are simply disinterested right now. I genuinely don’t care about this football team. It’s been a very long time since we’ve been in this boat. I don’t remember being this indifferent towards the Eagles in my entire life. Even in 2020, at least they had a rookie Jalen Hurts to spice things up towards the end of the year. This year, they have nothing.

No playmakers, no effort, no hope. A complete and total shit show from top to bottom. No one should survive a season like this.
