Sixers fan in bathroom

Sixers fan stayed in the bathroom during Game 5 comeback and should stay for remainder of the playoffs

The 76ers mounted an incredible comeback at the death to win Game 5 in overtime. Sixers fans everywhere were left holding their breath, almost in shock. But one man knew what he had to do to make the win happen, and I’m not talking about Tyrese Maxey (although it definitely was him too).

Sixers fan Graham Foley knew what he had to do and executed en route to a 76ers win by staying in the Human Robot bathroom for the remainder of the game:

And, of course, he and fans across the Fighting City of Philadelphia reaped the rewards of his sacrifice.

The sheer willpower to follow through on such a task is genuinely impressive. He’s a better man than I, I probably would’ve peeked out of the bathroom door only to cause a shift in the universe that would lead to a Tyrese Maxey brick as time expired.

Thank god this Sixers fan was there instead. He did what had to be done and earned every bit of his celebration.

A lot of people are saying he has to return to that bathroom for the entirety of Game 6, and I agree, but I’m left with one question. Why was he ever allowed to leave at all?

Now, this isn’t to say I want him locked in the bathroom for the remainder of the playoffs; I’m just saying that that’s probably the only way the Sixers have a shot at winning the title. The prosperity of the city could depend on the suffering of a single man.

Think The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas but somehow even more fucked up. But I argue that the positive impact on society would be even greater.

Graham, I’m sorry, dude. I don’t want this any more than you do, but it’s what the city needs. I need you back in that bathroom by sunrise or else this whole thing might go to shit.

From one Sixers fan to another, thank you for your service.
