Report: Eagles Showing Interest in Devonta Freeman

Mike Silver of Sports Illustrated has reported that the Eagles have shown interest in Devonta Freeman. This should be no surprise as it was reported earlier this month that the Eagles are planning on signing a veteran running back.
The Seahawks’ offer to free agent RB Devonta Freeman is a one-year deal that would be worth up to $4 million. He has also attracted interest from the Jets and Eagles.

In a previous article, Victor Williams broke down some running backs available that happened to not be named LeSean McCoy. Devonta Freeman is an interesting option, but he has missed 16 games over the past two seasons. With the Eagles’ obvious plan of adding healthy pieces to the roster, I don’t know if Freeman fits. However, at 28, Freeman still has a couple more productive years left. He wouldn’t have to be the main back either, with Miles Sanders projected to be the primary running back this season. Freeman would bring more versatility to the backfield as well. He has 5,987 all-purpose yards and 86 receiving touchdowns in his six-year career. I’m sure Doug Pederson would love to add a running back like Freeman to the roster.
With Freeman likely asking for around $4-5 million, I don’t think there’s a high chance that he will end up with the Eagles. I think they could get 30-year-old Carlos Hyde for cheaper who rushed for over 1,000 yards last season with the Texans.
Even more than I heard they were willing to pay Freeman, though Mike says up to $4m.
Eagles, I’m told, aren’t looking to spend much more than the minimum on a veteran RB (Hyde or Freeman). Sanders is their #1 RB. https://t.co/5ThSKsoaG0
