Phillies Postponed Until Friday

Phillies baseball has been officially paused until Friday. With no games in New York tonight or tomorrow, the entire home-and-home series against the Yankees has been postponed.
Here’s where we currently stand.
Right now, the Phillies are scheduled to resume play Friday night at CBP against the Blue Jays. As if things couldn’t get more weird, the Blue Jays will actually be the home team since Canada won’t let them play in their home country due to COVID-19 concerns.
This all happened due to the “health crisis” that the Marlins caused after their Opening Day weekend trip to CBP. So far, there have been 14 positive tests for COVID-19 which ultimately led to suspended play.
The suspension has been confirmed as a precautionary measure. No Phillies players have tested positive for the virus, which is actually very good news. At least in this instance, the virus did not spread while the players were on the field together.
The Marlins are shut down through the weekend, meaning their next scheduled game will actually land them right back where the mess started, against the Phillies on Tuesday night. Still no word on where that will actually be played. Miami government officials and the Phillies players will have to agree to travel to Miami to play. The Nationals already expressed concern traveling to Miami to play this weekend but as we now know, that series has been postponed.
While the Phillies and Marlins were both on hold, the Yankees were told to head to Baltimore to play against the Orioles on Wednesday. The Orioles were originally slated to play in Miami.
Phew. That was a lot of shit to get through. Major League Baseball has their hands full trying to push through a 60-game season already. Now with the rescheduling and travel issues, they really do have quite the mess on their hands.
Testing will continue for Phillies players throughout the week. Assuming all goes well and the results continue to be negative, we can probably look at this as a bump in the road. The MLB however, should be paying close attention and using this as a foundation to prevent further issues moving forward.
And of course, there’s no plan in place on when these games will be made up. So per usual, we’ll just have to wait and see.
Ring that bell, baby.
