Quarterfinal Preview: Philadelphia Union vs Sporting KC

The Philadelphia Union take the field tonight against Sporting KC in the Quarterfinal round. Just like last week, it’s win or go home – literally, as the loser leaves the bubble.

The Union has continued to impress and gained a larger following throughout the MLS is Back Tournament. They have yet to lose a game in 2020 and look to keep the unbeaten streak going. The backline and goalkeeper Andre Blake played a big role in securing a win against the Revolution last week.

Sporting KC Scouting Report

In Group D, Sporting KC placed first with a record of 2-1-0. They have scored six goals and have allowed four in. The Union defense will need to be ready once again for an aggressive Sporting KC attack led by Alan Pulido. Union defender Mark McKenzie believes that they will be ready for the challenge.

“We keep doing our job as defenders to keep zeros as long as we can and it’s a huge confidence boost when we see a zero on the score sheet.”

Union Players to Watch

Andre Blake: Another preview, another game to watch out for the best goalie in the MLS Andre Blake. Every week Blake makes incredible saves that have helped the Union remain unbeaten. Expect him to do the same tonight.

Brenden Aaronson: The 19-year-old continues to shine and plays a big role in midfield. Expect to see another great performance from him.

Mark McKenzie: The defender earned a spot on the MLS Team of the Week following their 1-0 victory against the New England Revolution.

Prediction: Union Win, 2-1

In a hard-fought battle, I believe the Union come away with another win and advance to the Semi-Finals.

Don’t worry we have you covered. Our good buddies over at Fox Sports The Gambler announced that they are the NEW HOME for Philadelphia Union Soccer. Gotta love it. Sean Brace and the rest of the crew over there are fantastic, and even have our guy Victor Williams locked in as an Eagles Insider for the upcoming NFL season.
