The Philadelphia Union are the Official Winners of the 2020 MLS Supporters Shield

The Philadelphia Union took the field this afternoon at home, with the hopes of winning their first trophy in club history. The Union were favored in this game being at home, where they have yet to lose. Homegrown goalie Matt Freese got the start after a shaky game from Joe Bendik last Sunday.
First Half:
In the 43rd minute, the Union took the lead as Sergio Santos was in the right place at the right time following a corner kick.
The Union headed into halftime with the lead and they just need to play a good 45 minutes of football to secure their first trophy in club history. Heading into halftime, the Union led in possession 53% – 47% and had the only shot on goal.
Second Half:
The Union came out in the second half strong and in the 69th minute, Corey Burke scored off an amazing cross by José Martinez to put the Union up 2-0.
The Union won the game 2-0 and made history this afternoon. They finished off their great regular season with the best record in the MLS and are the winners of the Supporter’s Shield for the first time in club history. This is the best Philadelphia Union team the club has ever had and they are poised to make a legit run for the MLS Trophy.
