Joel Farabee’s 4-Point Night Leads Flyers past Penguins

The Philadelphia Flyers and the Pittsburgh Penguins faced off in the season opener and it was an eventful one. Started off looking rough, ended with six goals for the good guys and a Farabee 4 point night.
First Period
The beginning of this game was quite disappointing to say the least. All that hype and build up all day just to allow a goal within the first five minutes was kind of a downer. Everyone started having doubts about the Provorov-Braun pairing already and the Flyers had to fend off a flurry of Penguins and a penalty kill.
Momentum would shift a little later on once the Flyers got a powerplay of their own. New addition Erik Gustafsson made his impact felt immediately throwing the puck on net for a JVR redirect goal. Good to see JVR going early.

Before this period expired, the Flyers went on the powerplay once more and they completed the same play. Farabee back to Gustafsson, redirect from Patrick to take the lead. Absolutely electric seeing Patrick score in game one.

Second Period
The second period is when I really saw the Giroux – Hayes – Farabee line get comfortable and find their footing. Hayes was cutting through the defense and they got the cycle game going.
Crosby would tie the game up on a play I know Hart would love to have back, yikes.

Farabee was dynamite in this game. We’ve been saying here at TLY that Farabee is set up to have a great second year. Farabee would put in a nice goal right near the end of the period going in front of the net and potting one by Jarry for the 3-2 lead.
YEAR. TWO. FARABEE.

Third Period
Penguins would tie it up quickly into the third, but then the floodgates opened and the Flyers took complete control. It started with Laughton to Raffl…

Quick Thoughts
– You were warned of the Farabee breakout year, enjoy. Four point night for number 86 and he leads the NHL in points for now.
– Nolan Patrick just looks very well conditioned and fresh out there, just fantastic stuff.
– Gustafsson producing on the powerplay is fun to see.
– Top-six and bottom-six both showed up and produced, a testament to our depth.
– This game got scrappy towards the end, excited to see what’s in store on Friday when the Flyers take on the Penguins once more.
1-0-0.
The #Flyers WINNN 6-3!! 🚨
– Farabee 4pt night. Electric.
– 28-13-86 is amazing
– PATRICK BURIED ONE
– Gustafsson on the score sheet early
– Our depth is insane
– 1-0-0. #AnytimeAnywhereNext up: Pittsburgh again. Let’s go.
