Jalen Hurts changes jersey number, will wear 1 going forward

For the Eagles, QB2 is now QB1. Earlier today, the team announced a flurry of number changes for the 2021 season on Twitter. Headlining those changes is quarterback Jalen Hurts. Hurts will now be wearing 1, which he repped during his final collegiate season at Oklahoma.
Other notable changes include Javon Hargrave, who will be switching from 93 to 97. Hargrave wore 97 during his time with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Wide receiver Quez Watkins will now don 16, previously having worn 80. New signings Joe Flacco and Anthony Harris will wear 7 and 28, respectively.
The changing of numbers by Hurts is a bit shocking, but not a bad one. He will be the first quarterback to wear 1 in franchise history, last worn by punter Cam Johnston this past season. Johnston was let go and signed with the Houston Texans. This announcement comes shortly after Carson Wentz announced he would be wearing 2 with the Indianapolis Colts.
