Darius Slay making the move to single digits in 2021

During the midst of the NFL draft chaos, a leak was dropped on Twitter regarding the Eagles uniforms for the upcoming season. After teasing it for the last few weeks, Fanatics leaked Darius Slay’s decision to wear 2 on his jersey this forthcoming season, switching from 24. Slay initially wanted 9, which he wore in college but let it be in respect to former Eagle Nick Foles. Here is a look at the Fanatics’ leak of Slay’s new number.

Jalen Hurts, who formerly wore 2, switched to 1 a few weeks ago, right before the rule change regarding uniform numbers. Slay is the first Eagle to switch to single digits and one of the first in the league, joining Patrick Peterson and Leonard Fournette. This change likely came with a price, usually $1 million or how many uniforms Nike had made of their former number to sell.
More number changes could be on the way soon for the Eagles. K’Von Wallace teased a return to his college 12. Top draft selection DeVonta Smith wore 6 for Alabama and could try to grab the number currently held by Khalil Tate. Outside of that, Philly has just 3 and 9 left as single-digit uniforms, but players could take them very soon. Philly is back on the clock later today, holding the 37th pick in the second round, starting at 7 PM.
