Report: Eagles still interested in Deshaun Watson despite ongoing lawsuits

According to reports, despite all of the ongoing accusations and lawsuits surrounding Deshaun Watson, the Philadelphia Eagles still have interest in Watson. According to Mike Fisher, the Eagles have remained interested in the Texans’ QB throughout the investigation and could still be a possible trade target. Even if they acquire Watson, Philly will look to keep young quarterback Jalen Hurts for numerous reasons.
In the Eagles’ eyes, the trade would be cheaper than initially expected from Houston, who wanted numerous first-round picks and players for Watson. Philly would also keep Hurts, expecting Watson to be suspended for some time during the 2021 season. The last stipulation is there would need to be protections attached to the picks, possibly as the Colts did with Carson Wentz.
With all of the horrible accusations and lawsuits Watson is going through currently, it makes no sense for Howie Roseman to pursue him. The Eagles currently hold the 12th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and up to three firsts in next year’s draft.
