“90% chance” Eagles land Deshaun Watson if moved

While it might seem like the Eagles have their QB1 going into training camp, some reports indicate otherwise. Earlier today, Howard Eskin reported that if the Houston Texans were to trade Deshaun Watson, there is a 90% chance that the Eagles would be the ones to land him. Since Watson first was rumored to want out of Houston, the Eagles have been linked to the star QB.
Even with all of the allegations surrounding Watson, Howie Roseman has remained interested in the three-time Pro Bowler. A few days ago, Adam Schefter also said the Eagles would be in the best position to land Watson but didn’t state that they were interested or not. Philadelphia has built a war chest for the 2022 NFL Draft, owning up to three first-round selections.
With all of these draft picks and Jalen Hurts, it makes sense why the Eagles are the front runners. There is no word yet about the decision from Deshaun Watson’s ongoing lawsuit, but he will likely be facing a suspension following his return.
Likely, a decision on any front about Watson won’t be made for a few weeks. Even if Watson is moved, at this point, it probably won’t be until the 2022 offseason, which would benefit the Eagles a lot more. It would allow them to see Jalen Hurts’ potential going forward, and Deshaun Watson will only be 26-years-old and locked into a contract for the next several years.
