Report: WR DeVonta Smith finalizes rookie contract with Eagles

The #10 overall pick in the draft has finally inked his rookie deal with the Eagles. Per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, DeVonta Smith signed a 4-year deal that includes a 5th-year option:

In comparison, Ja’Marr Chase signed for 4-years, $30.8M with the Bengals, which includes a $20M signing bonus. Smith’s contract will come with a $12M signing bonus. The โ€œSlim Reaperโ€ dominated the SEC over the last 3 seasons:

  • 227 receptions
  • 3,835 yards
  • 43 TDs
  • 16.9 yards/catch

Even when Smith was surrounded by first-round talent, he was still the most targeted receiver on Alabama over Jerry Jeudy, Henry Ruggs III, and Jaylen Waddle. His combination of speed, length, and agility will make him a dynamic threat in an offense yearning for explosiveness.
