Sixers GM Daryl Morey courts Steph Curry on Twitter, inches ever closer to his life’s ultimate goal

Sixers President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey is no stranger to Twitter shenanigans. Even earlier this week, he had Sixers fans in a tizzy with some late-night tweets.
Yesterday, Daryl graced us with one of his patented and popular “definitely not tampering”-style tweets. This time, Daryl had his sights aimed at one man: Steph Curry.
Yup, Daryl Morey boldly shot his shot with the one and only Stephen Curry on Twitter. Talk about a power move.
We all know that this probably won’t happen but never say never with Daryl Morey. Driven by a love of efficient and winning basketball, he has pulled off some excellent moves in his career.
However, there is one thing that could motivate Daryl Morey to bring Steph to Philly. Nobody has really talked about this, but it’s become impossible to ignore. With the above tweet, Daryl Morey is now one step closer to his dream of becoming the third Splash Brother.
Shocked? Well, you shouldn’t be. Daryl Morey has done everything short of flat-out telling us this. His obsession with finding the perfect balance between volume and efficiency from behind the three-point is just one of many warning signs.
The turning point was that traumatic defeat at the hands of the Golden State Warriors in the 2018 Western Conference. After that infamous Game 7 loss in which Houston missed 28 straight three-pointers, Daryl Morey snapped.
I am in no way saying anything negative about Daryl Morey, quite the opposite. The fact that he built a championship contender overnight here in Philadelphia is insanely impressive. Doing so while waking up screaming on a nightly basis after seeing Steph hit three after three in your dreams is an even more incredible feat.
Every move in Daryl Morey’s career since that fateful day has been to force his way to a new contender, make that team attractive to Steph and/or Klay, befriend them, and slowly assimilate into the Splash Brotherhood.
The acquisition of Seth Curry before this season was totally innocuous at first. An excellent pickup with the ability to shoot the ball with the best of them. Now, it all has become perfectly clear. If Daryl couldn’t get Steph, he’d have to settle for Seth. However, now Daryl sees the opportunity to pounce and bring Steph to Philly.
Sources that are definitely legitimate tell The Liberty Line that Daryl Morey can often be found replicating Steph and Klay’s most iconic three-point shots on his home court. Neighbors have heard him yelling, “Curry! Bang!” and running around his backyard in a headband and a sweat-stained youth XL Steph Curry jersey.
This may be an unsettling image to some, myself included. Regardless, we as a city need to support Daryl throughout this personal journey he is on. Sure, he may have started looking like Phillip Seymour Hoffman in Along Came Polly, but his outside shooting has improved tremendously over the years.

Sure, the idea of our President of Basketball Operations wandering around the city introducing himself as “Dr. Daryl Splash” is odd, but it’s the reality of the situation. That’s right, this is all very real and very serious, and you should take this article seriously, because it’s real and not a joke in any way.
And because I am not joking, we need to be understanding if one of us sees Daryl on the Green Lane bridge in Manayunk, dropping increasingly large objects into the Schuylkill and screaming “Splash!” at the top of his lungs while laughing maniacally.
Hopefully, Daryl can get Steph to come to Philly at some point so he can shoot around with him and assume his place as the rightful third Splash Bro. Until then, Seth will have to do.
