Philadelphia Union sign veteran Defender Alvas Powell

The Philadelphia Union announced today that they have signed veteran defender Alvas Powell as a free agent. Powell signs with the Union on a one-year minimum senior contract.Â
Powell has eight years of MLS experience and won an MLS Cup as a member of the Portland Timbers in 2015. After spending three seasons with Portland, he went on to play at FC Cincinnati and Inter Miami CF. He last played at the Sudanese club Al-Hilal.
Powell was a member of the championship-winning squad of the 2014 Caribbean Cup. He played an important role in three of Jamaica’s Gold Cup runs, in 2015, 2017 and 2019. Powell has World Cup qualifier and international friendly experience and scored a goal in the 2019 Concacaf Nations League match.
