Former 76ers player expected to be next head coach of the New Orleans Pelicans

The Philadelphia 76ers coaching tree continues. Earlier today, it was reported that the New Orleans Pelicans are close to hiring Willie Green as their next head coach. Green is currently an assistant with the Phoenix Suns and was previously with the Golden State Warriors for four seasons.
During his playing days, Green was a 76ers from 2003 through 2010, who acquired him during the 2003 NBA Draft from the Seattle SuperSonics. During his seven seasons with Philadelphia, Green put up a career-high average of 12.4 PPG during the 2008 season.
Alongside his career in Philadelphia, he is also a member of the 76ers coaching tree because Monty Williams, the head coach of the Suns, was an assistant for Brett Brown. Willie will be replacing Stan Van Gundy, who was fired from the Pelicans after just one season with the franchise. Another Brett Brown assistant, Ime Udoka, was just hired as the head coach of the Boston Celtics.
