4 years too late, Eagles hang new banner outside Lincoln Financial Field

It had been 151 days before the Philadelphia Eagles finally decided to remove the banner outside Lincoln Financial Field featuring Carson Wentz. Yesterday, we saw the banner of Carson Wentz finally being removed which led to citywide speculation on what the new banner would be. According to some pictures on social media, it finally looks like we have our answer.
Pictures have surfaced outside of Lincoln Financial Field of what the new banner will be. The Eagles have opted to replace Wentz with a picture of the Super Bowl trophy. The hands in the picture, obviously belong to Nick Foles. Just to make sure we’re all on the same page, the Philadelphia Eagles, with a new head coach, starting quarterback, and Heisman Trophy-winning wide receiver, have replaced a banner of Carson Wentz with Nick Foles hands and Super Bowl Trophy.
Pretty interesting choice by the Philadelphia Eagles here. Some are calling the new banner petty and a shot a Carson Wentz, but I just think it’s stupid. Philadelphia constantly has a problem with letting things go. Yes, a Super Bowl is a massive achievement, even more so when you have only won one in franchise history.
However, with an entirely new regime and everyone in the local and national media calling this year’s Eagles team a “rebuild year” after reaching the ultimate goal four years ago, I would have probably gone with something else rather than the Super Bowl trophy. That happened four years ago. What is the point of hanging it up now? Do better, Eagles. Nick Foles already has a statue outside of the stadium with former head coach Doug Pederson. So much for ushering in the new regime and new roster of young talent.
Luckily for myself, our F2 parking lot setup is on the opposite side of the stadium, so when I walk into an Eagles game this year I won’t be reminded of the Super Bowl year and the downfall of the Eagles after Doug Pederson told us on the Art Museum steps that winning championships would be the “new norm”.
Few weeks out from training camp. Go Birds.
