Free-agent CB Steven Nelson hints at signing with new team in coming days

The long-standing Steven Nelson watch may be coming to an end this week.
The free-agent cornerback took to Twitter on Tuesday hinting that a deal could be finalized with a new team in the coming days:

Nelson is the prize that has yet to be won this offseason. A 28-year-old corner coming off two strong seasons, the stout corner is being thorough with his next opportunity. Darius Slay has been doing his part to try and recruit him to Philadelphia as well.
It was previously reported that the Eagles are among several teams hesitant in signing the corner because they aren’t willing to pay him over $3 million on a one-year deal, per Adam Caplan. The interest appears to be mutual but Nelson, however, feels as though he’s a top corner in the NFL and should be paid as such.
Steven Nelson’s two-year stint with Pittsburgh was a productive one:
- 95 tackles
- 17 passes defended
- 3 INTs
- 77 catches allowed on 142 targets
If the Eagles can figure out where to send Zach Ertz and his $8.5M salary, it would free up the money necessary to acquire Nelson. Unfortunately, they seem to be having a difficult time deciding if he’s worth the price.
