Union defender Kai Wagner named to 2021 MLS All-Star Game

The MLS All-Star Game is just three weeks away, and the Union will be sending one of its stars to Los Angeles. Defender Kai Wagner will be representing the Union when the MLS All-Stars take on the LIGA MX All-Stars on August 25th. This will be Wagner’s first All-Star nomination in his career.
In 2021, Kai Wagner has 26 interceptions, and 20 tackles won. During his three seasons with Philadelphia, Kai has started 60 games and holds the most assists in a season by a defender in Union history. Over the last two seasons, Wagner has made three Team of the Weeks. His efforts now make him one of the MLS’s 14 players rostered for their crossover game.
Philadelphia’s last All-Star was goalkeeper Andre Blake back in 2019, and Wagner is only the 8th member of the Union to be selected since 2010. Currently, Philly is in 5th place in the Eastern Conference and just three points out of second and are back in action tonight against Toronto at Subaru Park.
