Eagles waive defensive back Shakial Taylor

After bringing in Steven Nelson at the start of training camp, the Eagles have waived cornerback Shakial Taylor. Taylor was the first acquisition following Nick Sirianni’s hiring. The 24-year-old was an undrafted free agent from the University of Kansas in 2018. Taylor did not play in 2020, opting out due to COVID-19.
Shakial Taylor was never likely seeing any playing time in Philadelphia in the secondary but could’ve been a special teams contributor. But between the addition of Nelson alongside Avonte Maddox, Zech McPhearson, and Michael Jacquet, Taylor looked to be the odd man out.
Currently, the Eagles are going through their second week of training camp with their first preseason game in just a week on August 12th against the Steelers. Hopefully, Shakial Taylor will be able to land on his feet somewhere else in the NFL.
