Haywood Highsmith returns to 76ers on Exhibit 10 deal

Former Delaware Blue Coat and 76ers guard Haywood Highsmith has agreed to rejoin the 76ers on an Exhibit 10 contract, according to JD Shaw. After playing a season in Italy his team, the Hakro Merlins Crailsheim, have confirmed his departure back to the NBA as of this morning.
Highsmith played for the 76ers and Blue Coats from 2018 through 2020, averaging a little over 11 points per game during his G-League tenure and almost 8 PPG while playing in Italy this past season. He did not see much action on the big stage, only appearing in 5 games.
At only 24 years old, Haywood Highsmith comes back on a league minimum deal in hopes of proving he is worth another NBA contract. The 76ers continue to build up a solid roster of young players with upside including Paul Reed, Grant Riller, and Charles Bassey alongside several others. It will be interesting to see how Highsmith fits with the rest of this crop of players, but he will have an opportunity to thrive on one of the best G-League teams in the league.
