Eagles prove yet again that the preseason is a joke, will rest starters in finale vs Jets

The Eagles will play the New York Jets tonight at 7:30pm. It will be the last preseason game of the season for the birds, who will open up the real NFL season on the road in Atlanta on September 12th against the Falcons. As someone who refuses to buy into the NFL machine that tries to rob you of your hard earned money during the summer by selling you a preseason product as something that’s important, I cannot wait for the circus to be over so we can actually focus on some meaningful football. Turns out, the Eagles must agree with me.

According to Mike Garafolo, the Eagles will rest the majority, if not all, of their starts tonight after some hot, humid, physical joint practices this week. It’s being reported that the Eagles are happy with the work that they have gotten in during the week and don’t feel the need to push their luck in a preseason game tonight.
This certainly isn’t shocking news. Again, preseason games are just glorified practices and typically, you alway see starters resting in the preseason finale games. Plus, I’m sure you’ve seen all the jokes online claiming that the Eagles reportedly went 4-0 during joint practices in training camp and are basically the best team in the NFL heading into the regular season.
My guy Kevin over at CrossingBroad was able to summarize the Eagles’ preseason perfectly.
Rest the starters. We’ll see the Eagles in two weeks for the start of the regular season. Until then, we can continue to live our lives in purgatory as the Phillies collapse continues and people argue online about what to do with Ben Simmons as the NBA season rapidly approaches.
Of course, you will have the following headlines after tonight’s preseason game. Rather than engaging with them later, check them out now.
- Reason for Concern? Eagles rest starters, lose 28-0 to the Jets
- Nick Sirianni shows why he is a rookie coach, mismanages preseason as the Eagles lose 28-7 to the Jets
- Does Jalen Hurts want to be a winning quarterback in Philadelphia? Concerns arise after playing only two series in preseason.
Enjoy your weekend.
