Eagles waive Michael Jacquet and one other ahead of tomorrow’s 53-man deadline

Nick Sirianni has continued to trim down the roster ahead of tomorrow afternoon’s deadline this evening, waiving cornerback Michael Jacquet and lineman Ross Pierschbacher. Jacquet joined the Eagles ahead of last season as an undrafted free agent from Louisiana. During his time in Philadelphia, Jacquet saw a decent amount of time when injuries plagued Philadelphia’s secondary. Still, he was very inconsistent with his play.
After signing Steven Nelson ahead of training camp, Michael Jacquet’s odds to make the final 53 were slim. Still ahead of him outside of Darius Slay and Nelson are Avonte Maddox and Zech McPhearson. Pierschbacher was signed late last season but never made any impact on the Eagles’ o-line depth.
During the preseason, Jacquet struggled but capped things off with a huge fumble recovery touchdown against the Jets. Most fans know him for his brutal performance against Dallas last season when he gave up over 180 yards passing by himself.
Philly is now down to 73 players with 20 more on their way out by 4:00 tomorrow afternoon. It’ll be interesting to see who remains with the team with several tight position battles across both sides of the football.
