Danny Green discusses Ben Simmons trade rumors

Danny Green has been by far the most vocal 76ers player this offseason. Throughout free agency, Danny discussed the issues with Ben Simmons and even criticized the Sixers’ fan base a bit. Despite that, he felt at home here and decided to return on a two-year deal.Â
Earlier today, Danny talked with Howard Beck regarding the potential Ben Simmons’ trade and what it would mean to both him and the entire franchise. One of Green’s focal points was the change in defense for the 76ers since Ben is considered by many to be the best defender in the NBA. Danny feels depending on who Ben is traded for. He would have to step up and be the primary defender for Philly on the wing.

Danny Green isn’t wrong in what he said, and it’s the first time we have heard one of Ben’s teammates discuss the ongoing trade discussions. While Joel is the team’s best defender, losing Ben Simmons creates a significant void, and the team will need someone else to step up against players like Kevin Durant and Luka Doncic.Â
Ben himself has been very quiet this summer but recently talked about Philadelphia in a Zoom seminar with Forbes that leaked out. It’ll be interesting to see if Ben will be back at the start of training camp, but if not, it looks like Danny Green is up to the challenge.
