Rumor: Gardner Minshew wanted to join the Eagles since start of summer

An interesting tidbit about Gardner Minshew leaked out earlier this afternoon according to Jane Slater of NFL Network. According to Slater, Minshew has been eyeing Philadelphia as a trade destination since the start of the summer. This report comes as a surprise, but it is always nice to hear that a player wants to play for the Eagles.
Gardner Minshew wasn’t seen as a likely exit from Jacksonville, being viewed as one of the best backup quarterbacks in the NFL. It’s possible that Gardner requested a trade to Philadelphia, and that’s why the Jaguars sent him to Philly on such a cheap deal. Minshew’s reasoning as to why Philadelphia isn’t known, but it could be that he thinks he could have a chance at the starting job.
The Eagles have been active this morning, signing several players they let go yesterday evening to their practice squad for the 2021 season. Hopefully, Gardner remains happy in Philadelphia and provides Nick Sirianni with an excellent backup for Jalen Hurts for the next few seasons.
