Former rival QB thinks the Eagles could shock a lot of people in 2021

After being slammed earlier this offseason, numerous analysts have come out of the woodwork predicting this Eagles team to be better than expected. The most recent culprit is former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo.
Romo was on a Zoom call earlier this week for CBS, and when discussing Philadelphia, he had nothing but praise for his former division rival. Tony went as far as to say that they could make a legitimate push to win the NFC East this season.
“I think the Eagles are going to be a surprise team. If you go in and think they’re really not ready, they could shock a lot of people and go 10-6 or 11-5 very quickly,” Romo said. “That’s an uphill battle right now, but I still think they have a lot of talented players, and the coaching staff is good. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if the Eagles have a great season this year.”
Throughout the rest of his speech, Romo also praised Jalen Hurts and Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie for their abilities and skill. Philly is projected to have the easiest schedule in the NFL this season, so if things come together quickly, there’s no reason to count them out of the division hunt. After several months of waiting, the Eagles return next Sunday, kicking off their season on the road against the Atlanta Falcons.
