Earlier today, we were again blessed with another social media post from Ben Simmons. Obviously, I say that with a sense of sarcasm. The Ben Simmons shooting videos have continued throughout the offseason after a disappointing end to last season against the Atlanta Hawks where Ben Simmons literally refused to dunk a basketball while he was a lone in the paint with a chance to tie the game. Everyone knows all about that by now, so let’s just move forward and consider everyone caught up with what’s been happening this summer.
Social media will be mad at my following theory. I get it. Twitter is filled with miserable souls who want nothing more than to criticize anything and everything that’s happening with Philadelphia sports. A prime example, would be Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni wearing Phillies gear at his press conference today. He was criticized for doing so.
We are in an age of Philly sports fandom where you really can’t win. DeVonta Smith wears a Yankees hat to an Eagles preseason game and is criticized. Nick Sirianni wears Phillies gear and is criticized. Ben Simmons hates Philly and is criticized. Bryce Harper loves Philly and is criticized. How can we get through anything when everyone hates everything? I don’t know the answers.
Anyways, back to the tinfoil hat conspiracy and why Ben Simmons in the gym with Kevin Hart is a significant development in the chaos that is the Philadelphia 76ers.
Simmons is wearing 76ers shorts. He’s also with Philadelphia native and known 76ers principal owner Kevin Hart. As Simmons is tucked away in the hills of California and reportedly not returning any phone calls from his teammates, the 76ers organization, and basically anyone outside of Klutch Sports, he’s now in the gym with Kevin Hart?
Now that’s interesting.
Has Kevin Hart been sent to California to talk with Ben Simmons about his current relationship with the 76ers? There’s no way Hart can just be there to have small talk and get dunked on by Simmons right? Is this part of a plan to mend the damaged relationship with Doc Rivers and the city of Philadelphia?
I’m definitely going to say yes, but probably not.
