Howie Roseman criticizes Carson Wentz’s availability on WIP

Howie Roseman made some interesting comments this morning during his interview on WIP. Roseman was asked if he would make the Jalen Hurts pick again in the second round, and while praising Hurts, he threw a bit of shade towards former Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz.
“We loved Carson (but) we played four playoff games, and we needed our backup in all of them.”
Roseman isn’t wrong, but this is a tough blow to Carson Wentz, who continues to be shrouded in criticism even in Indianapolis. During Wentz’s tenure in Philly, Nick Foles started in two playoff runs while Josh McCown had to finish out their game against Seattle after Wentz suffered a concussion.
One of the main knocks against Wentz has been his numerous injuries. From a torn ACL, back injuries, and even a broken bone in his foot during training camp this year, it brings up a serious question mark about his ability to be a franchise quarterback.
Hopefully, for Eagles fans, Carson Wentz can remain healthy in 2021 to help Philly land a third first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. After his foot injury and a positive COVID test, Wentz looks to be on track to play week one for the Colts. Meanwhile, for the Eagles, Jalen Hurts continues to wow everyone, being named a captain by his teammates for the upcoming season.
