Report: Eagles sign OT Jordan Mailata to 4-year extension

The Eagles have locked up their left tackle of the future.
Jordan Mailata is signing a 4-year extension worth up to $80M, per multiple reports:
Eagles’ OT Jordan Mailata is signing a four-year, $64 million extension that could be worth up to $80 million and includes $40.85 million guaranteed, per source.

His agents, Jeff Nalley and Graylan Crain, just confirmed the deal to ESPN.
Mailata’s new deal keeps him with the team through 2025. The Australia native competed with former first-round pick Andre Dillard in training camp for the starting left tackle spot and needless to say, it wasn’t much of a competition.
The organization electing to pay Mailata ahead of his first season as a starter is an interesting move. On one end, the team could be getting a bargain on a franchise left tackle before he would command more money on the open market. On the other end, paying Mailata one year early is a precarious move for a 360-pound man with a history of back issues.
Regardless, this is an incredible story for Mailata — who just started playing football 3 years ago. Jordan Mailata graded out at a 78.7 grade from weeks 12-16 in 2020 per PFF, ranking 7th among left tackles last season.
