Eagles place Brandon Brooks on injured reserve following pectoral injury against 49ers

After losing Brandon Graham for the season, the Philadelphia Eagles will also be without Brandon Brooks for an extended period of time. According to Nick Sirianni, Brooks is headed to the IR with a pec strain but will return later this season. Brooks left yesterday’s loss against the San Francisco 49ers early with what was described as a chest injury.

In his absence, Landon Dickerson will get the start at right guard for the Eagles. During his time against the 49ers, Dickerson didn’t play well, posting a 4.2 pass-blocking grade according to PFF. This lousy performance can likely be chalked up to an excellent defensive line alongside an unexpected NFL debut for Dickerson.

It’s still tough to see Brandon Brooks go down with any injury. He played his first game in over a year on Sunday after tearing his Achilles last offseason. With the new injured reserve rules, players are out a minimum of three weeks now compared to eight weeks. The Eagles’ next three opponents include the Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs, and the Carolina Panthers.
