Eagles place Zach Ertz on COVID-19/Reserve list

According to a team announcement, after placing Brandon Brooks on injured reserve, tight end Zach Ertz has been placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list. Ertz played on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers, and there was no word about any potential COVID breakout until this announcement.

During training camp, the Eagles had to put linebacker Alex Singleton and two others on the list, but no further breakout occurred. The good news is that more than 90% of the roster is vaccinated, according to Howie Roseman, so a COVID-caused forfeit isn’t very likely. Alongside that, the Eagles have an extra day off this week, facing the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football.

Still, losing Ertz is a devastating loss to the Eagles’ offense. To start the 2021 season, Zach Ertz has had three receptions for 40 yards through two games. Philadelphia hasn’t used their tight ends much to start the year, but they should see more receptions in the coming weeks. Hopefully, Zach Ertz can make a full and speedy recovery in the coming days.

Update:

According to Tom Pelissero, Zach Ertz tested positive for COVID-19 but he is vaccinated so there is a chance that he could still play Monday night.

Dallas Goedert had a great showing against Carolina and looked to be getting more targets. He only had two receptions but should have had a touchdown if he didn’t drop the pass. […]
