Jordan Mailata expected to miss Monday Night Football matchup due to knee injury

Earlier today, it was reported that the Eagles would, unfortunately, likely be without Jordan Mailata when they take on the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football. According to reports, Mailata suffered an MCL sprain that isn’t believed to be serious, but could possibly hold him out of the game. In his absence, former first-round pick Andre Dillard would be starting.

Jordan Mailata has dealt with some injuries early in his career but nothing severe, the most recent being a concussion that held him out of their Week 17 game against Washington last season. The good news is the Cowboys have a very weak defensive line, that losing a starter won’t hurt the production that much.

Dillard played just one preseason matchup due to his own knee injury in training camp and looked very good, posting a team-high 81.5 passing grade alongside no rushes or hurries. Despite the heavy criticisms, the Eagles should be in good hands on Monday.

Dallas runs a 3-4 hybrid, and their best player up-front currently would be the hybrid edge, Micah Parsons. Parsons has played the role tremendously, and luckily for the Eagles, he often lines up on the right side of the line, matching him up with Lane Johnson.

Alongside Jordan Mailata, the Eagles will be without Brandon Brooks, who is out for likely eight weeks with a pec strain suffered last Sunday. In his place is Landon Dickerson, and if anything were to occur, they also have Nate Herbig available. Philly’s other backups include Jack Driscoll, Brett Toth, and newly acquired Jack Anderson.

The Eagles will be without possibly Zach Ertz as well after he tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this week. Alongside Ertz, Davion Taylor was the only player who didn’t practice yesterday due to injury.
