Just when you thought things couldn’t get more crazy for Ben Simmons and the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday, things finally hit the boiling point yesterday, after Ben Simmons was kicked out of practice by Doc Rivers. Reports flowed in yesterday after Simmons was told to leave and ultimately missed his highly anticipated media availability. Simmons has not talked to his teammates or contributed at practice.

Adam Silver even spoke on the Ben Simmons situation. It’s safe to say things have spiraled out of control, and of course, the internet is eating it up. Yesterday, Bleacher Report tweeted out a video with Doc Rivers and Ben Simmons’ faces on top of a movie clip from Coach Carter.

The video was pretty funny and obviously since it was from Bleacher Report, got a ton of engagement online. The most surprising “like” the video got was from former 76ers player Jimmy Butler. As we all know, it was a messy ending to Butler’s short time in Philadelphia. Stories came pouring out that basically, Ben Simmons wanted the ball in his hands and voiced his opinion with Brett Brown during the playoffs when the Sixers got knocked out in Game 7 against the Toronto Raptors. The decision was then made to not bring back Butler in favor of Ben Simmons.

After reports came out during the offseason that Ben Simmons didn’t want to play with Joel Embiid anymore and wanted to be on a team built around him, Embiid expressed his frustration with the report from Simmons’ camp. You can watch that clip below.

Embiid and Butler were always close. I would kill to hear Butler’s take on this entire situation. The hashtag #JimmyKnew has been floating around social media, mainly thanks to The Liberty Line. It was no secret that Ben and Jimmy hated each other. Jimmy thought Brett was too soft. It was either those two or Butler that were going to survive in Philadelphia. Turns out, the 76ers made the wrong decision.

#JimmyKnew. I would kill to have him back in a 76ers uniform. Unfortunately, that’s not going to happen and we’re stuck in a never ending soap opera with Ben Simmons.
