Eagles News: two AFC teams inquiring about Fletcher Cox trade

With the NFL trade deadline approaching, the Eagles find themselves caught between being buyers or sellers.

Currently sitting at 2-5 on the year, a fire sale could be in the team’s future as they focus on getting younger. Fletcher Cox has been a consistent name in recent trade rumors, and it appears that the Eagles are entertaining the idea of moving him:

The six-time Pro Bowler isn’t the player he once was but can still provide a boost on the defensive front for a contender. Cox has just one sack and 11 tackles on the year.

Dan Sileo is far from a credible source, but it is worth noting that Cox was vocal about his frustrations with Jonathan Gannon’s defense after last week’s loss in Vegas.

Cox’s contract situation is a complex one following his restructure, making him virtually untradeable this season. Alas, Cox has been out of practice due to “rest” for much of the week, possibly not wanting to risk injury ahead of the deadline.

While it is doubtful that Cox finds a new home this season, expect Philadelphia to start offloading their veterans sooner rather than later.
