Joel Embiid was scheduled to rest tonight, will now enter COVID health and safety protocols

The Philadelphia 76ers are back at home tonight for the first leg of a back-to-back. Tonight, they will welcome the New York Knicks to the Wells Fargo, hoping to extend their winning streak to seven games. The 76ers are first in the Eastern Conference with an 8-2 record. The Knicks will enter tonight in seventh place in the East with a record of 6-4.
Shams just tweeted out that tonight, the 76ers will be without Joel Embiid, who’s taking a scheduled rest day.
****UPDATE****
Welp – that’s not good. Embiid is heading to the COVID health and safety protocols list. Looks like he could miss a bunch of games over the next 10 days. I’m sure those booster shots will solve everything. Jesus Christ. As for tonight, according to the early Injury Report, it looks like the Knicks will be without Kemba Walker as well, who will be taking a rest game tonight.
Knicks: Kemba Walker: out (rest).
INJURIES: 76ers: Ben Simmons: out (back), Matisse Thybulle: day to day (health and safety protocols), Grant Riller: out (knee), Tobias Harris: day to day (health protocols), Danny Green: day to day (hamstring), Isaiah Joe: day to day (health and safety protocols), Joel Embiid (health protocols).
The Sixers are back in action tomorrow night at home against the Milwaukee Bucks. Embiid’s status for this week is now completely up in the air. More to come.
