Kelly Green update: 50% chance Eagles introduce new uniform in 2022

Another good sign that Kelly Green could be back soon for the Philadelphia Eagles. Earlier this year, it was announced the NFL would be rescinding the one-shell rule, allowing for teams to wear several helmets in a single season. Owner Jeffrey Lurie has been adamant about wanting to bring back Kelly Green as a uniform for several seasons but couldn’t because of the rule.
Earlier today, UniWatch posted an interview with an anonymous but trusted NFL source who revealed more details regarding the change. UniWatch is the most reliable uniform source in the sports world, so their report is very trustworthy.
According to the source, 15 NFL teams will have a second helmet next season but could not specify who the exact teams were. All that was said is likely not the Las Vegas Raiders but couldn’t go into details. The issue with such little teams was the window between the rule change and the deadline to submit uniforms for next season.
Knowing this, there’s roughly a 50% chance the Eagles are one of those teams bringing about a new uniform. If that’s the case, it would be the first time they have had a change since 2010 the Eagles used a second helmet or kelly green.
It’s hard to think that any new uniform wouldn’t be a throwback or a modernization of the classic look. They are a city favorite alongside their owner’s top choice and pushed for the change because he wanted kelly green.
Any further details likely won’t be revealed until this summer if they were unveiled in 2022. In the meantime, the Eagles will prepare to take on the New York Jets this Sunday.
