Damian Lillard discusses ongoing trade rumors

To nobody’s surprise, the most loyal player in the NBA has made it clear he isn’t looking at moving anytime soon. Ahead of yesterday’s game, Damian Lillard was asked about the recent trade rumors and made it clear he has not asked for a trade whatsoever. Lillard went on a long but very accurate rant regarding the whole saga that I’ll link below.

The direction of Lillard’s rant seems to be towards Adrian Wojnarowski, and Shams Charania’s reports over the last two days about his looming extension and a possible move. These reports included the 76ers being the only team to send a trade offer alongside Lillard being intrigued by Ben Simmons. 

It’s almost certainly true that Damian Lillard wants to pair with the disgruntled 76ers star in Portland, mentioning discussing solutions with head coach Chauncey Billups in the interview. Portland has been in a downward spiral with Lillard dealing with an abdominal injury that has hurt his play.

While Damian Lillard might not want out, it’s certainly possible the Blazer’s next general manager wants to start from scratch with a rebuild and trade their star. However, no discussions of who would be taking over or their plan have been discussed yet.
