How an Indiana Pacers rebuild could help the Philadelphia 76ers

Reports out of Indiana are starting to surface in regards to the Pacers and a potential rebuild. That of course, should be added to the Philadelphia 76ers’ radar yet again as a potential team looking to unload assets for Ben Simmons. The Pacers are currently 11-16 and sit in 13th place in the Eastern Conference.
It has been rumored that the Pacers could be interested in moving some of their top players, including Malcolm Brogdon, Caris LeVert, and Domantas Sabonis. All three are solid NBA players but over the past few months, there have been reports that the 76ers are not interested in what was offered with Malcolm Brogdon and Caris LeVert. I would also question whether Domantas Sabonis would be a good fit with Joel Embiid here in Philadelphia.
It is interesting, that combined, Sabonis and LeVert make roughly $35 million, which could easily be matched up with a certain someone’s max player contract. However, throughout the entire Ben Simmons saga, it has been thrown around that if and when the Sixers decide to make a move, it would come in a three-team trade.
An example of a possible trade could be Portland sending Damian Lillard to Philadelphia, the 76ers sending Ben Simmons to Indiana, and the Pacers sending a package to the Portland to match salaries alongside draft capital from both teams.
The Sixers lost last night on the second leg of a back-to-back to the Utah Jazz. Those types of games are always tough, but looking past that, the 76ers have struggled to compete with “contending” teams all season. It’s been a frustrating year for the Sixers, who have battled through health and safety protocols along with injuries over the first few months of the season.
It has also become rather frustrating watching this basketball team play, mainly because the way it is currently constructed isn’t a championship contending basketball team as it was over the past few years. The Sixers are incomplete. Ben Simmons left a huge hole in the lineup both offensively and defensively. Until the Sixers are willing to move him and bring in other pieces, it doesn’t appear that we have a shot at an NBA Championship.
Looking at a three team trade like this, could give the Pacers a rebuild with Ben Simmons as a centerpiece and Portland would get two solid players to replace Damian Lillard and remain a playoff team. The Sixers, would land their all-star prize in Damian Lillard and everyone can go along their merry way.
Let’s make it happen before I lose my mind watching Joel Embiid attempt to carry a team that simply doesn’t have enough talent to support him.
