Rumor: 76ers not interested in Pacers’ offer for Ben Simmons

The Philadelphia 76ers continue to remain adamant in wanting a star in return for Ben Simmons. It was recently reported that Caris LeVert was included in talks for the 76ers star and could be paired with guard Malcolm Brogdon. While that does seem possible, Daryl Morey is still not interested.

According to Marc Stein, Morey has no interest in a Pacers deal, including Brogdon and LeVert. Instead, the initial desired return for Simmons remains the same. Damian Lillard or another star player is the 76ers’ President of Basketball Operations ideal return in a trade. While the Sixers wait for the perfect deal, Ben Simmons continues to sit out while the 76ers fine him for refusing to show up.

“Philadelphia has been unmoved by the Pacers’ ability to offer Malcolm Brogdon and Caris LeVert as the headliners of a trade package”

Brogdon and LeVert are by far the best package offered so far for Simmons, and it’s an excellent return. Bringing in these two allows for an All-Star caliber guard alongside a massive addition to Doc Rivers’ bench. As long as Joel Embiid and the 76ers locker room are okay with the team’s current approach, I’m all for it.

Holding onto Simmons is the right move as long as the 76ers have their guy by the trade deadline. His recent stunt is unwarranted, and the continued fines while refusing to give in sends a signal to the rest of the NBA that this isn’t right.

The availability of Lillard or Bradley Beal remains to be seen but is highly doubtful unless things crumble in their respective franchises very quickly. Philadelphia is back in action on Monday for their third preseason game against the Brooklyn Nets.
