NHL on pause from December 22-26, Flyers will still face Washington tomorrow
According to Elliotte Friedman and Frank Seravalli the NHL/NHLPA will agree to pause the 2021-22 season until December 26th.
The season will be paused on Wednesday through Christmas Day. Teams have agreed to suspend all operations, which means that there will be no practice and no COVID testing during those days. An interesting caveat to this is both of the remaining scheduled games tomorrow shall be played, and of course this includes the Flyers home matchup against Washington at 7PM tomorrow night.
Sources tell @DailyFaceoff: #NHL, #NHLPA have agreed to suspend all operations for Dec. 22-25 and will re-open team facilities on Dec. 26 no earlier than 2pm local time. No practice, no testing during those days.— Frank Seravalli (@frank_seravalli) December 21, 2021
Tuesday’s 2 remaining games will be played – pending test results.
Even though this is terrible news it could be worse than four days and honestly, the way things are going with COVID and the sports world, it just might be longer. Who knows what the future has in store, but this is definitely depressing.
NHL teams are going to reopen their facilities on December 26th to get a jump on the COVID-19 testing and hopefully return to play on December 27th. So for now it appears we will have a game day tomorrow and the multi-sport battle with Washington is still on.
Let’s get a win and bring some good energy into this pause.
