Joel Embiid: “If I played American football, I’d be a cornerback”

After a dominating performance against the Celtics in Boston on Monday night, Joel Embiid chatted with Kate Scott and Alaa Abdelnaby postgame.
Embiid dominated throughout the game, scoring 41 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, assisting on five shots and blocking four shots. He basically put the 76ers on his back down the stretch.

In the fourth quarter, Embiid scored 17 points, with four rebounds, two blocks, and a game sealing steal. He was 4-for-7 from the floor in the fourth and 9-for-10 from the free throw line.
Back to the postgame comments, Embiid had this to say about his game sealing steal.
Watching Joel Embiid play cornerback, standing at 7’0″ and weighing 280lbs, would certainly be a sight to see. We saw DeVonta Smith lining up next to Jordan Mailata on the offensive line on Tuesday night, but this could even be better than that.
Doing some quick Googling, it appears that the tallest cornerback in NFL history would be Lenny Walls.

Lenny Walls was only listed at 6’4″. He signed with the Denver Broncos after going undrafted in 2002. Throughout his career, Walls made six Pro Bowls despite only having one career interception.
I have no doubt in my mind that Joel Embiid could be able to pull in more than one interception. The Eagles could definitely use some help at cornerback too if they decide to move on from Steven Nelson after this season.
Given the current state of the Philadelphia 76ers and a grim outlook on the future of the organization, maybe Embiid should head across the parking lot and see what the Eagles have to offer?
